Jaunt Studios & XYZ Films Ink First Look Deal for Immersive Films

Jaunt Studios Will Work with XYZ on the Production and Distribution of XYZ Film’s Upcoming Slate of VR Films

Announced today Jaunt Inc., the global partner of choice for producing and distributing immersive content, has partnered with XYZ Films in a first look deal for all of XYZ’s upcoming virtual reality projects.

“XYZ Films is one of the most forward-thinking production houses in the industry and we couldn’t be more excited about partnering with them,” said Tom Vance, Co-Head of Jaunt Studios. “They have an unbelievable track record in collaborating with some of the most sought-after filmmakers in the business, and we are looking forward to working with XYZ to help bring their amazing skillset to creating quality immersive content.”

XYZ Films, an integrated production and sales company, has become a premier destination for directorial talent.  They recently released Craig Zahler’s BRAWL IN CELL BLOCK 99 starring Vince Vaughn, and Jamie Dagg-directed SWEET VIRGINIA starring Jon Bernthal.  Pending 2018 releases include Panos Cosmatos directed MANDY, which will premiere at Sundance, MOM AND DAD (directed by Brian Taylor, starring Nicolas Cage), and I KILL GIANTS (directed by Anders Walter, starring Zoe Saldana), both of which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Additional credits for XYZ Films include THE RAID, THE INVITATION, I DON’T FEEL AT HOME IN THIS WORLD ANYMORE.

“VR is a new frontier for storytelling.  It’s a dynamic medium for narrative filmmaking we’ve been eager to jump into with our directors.  This partnership enables us to do so with one of the premier content creators in the space,” says XYZ partner Nick Spicer.

Jaunt co-produced the acclaimed VR series Invisible directed by Doug Liman and in 2017, Jaunt released their first six degrees of freedom (6DoF) mixed-reality experience, Free the Night, created and directed by Nicole McDonald in partnership with Microsoft for Windows Mixed Reality. This year Jaunt was also nominated for two Emmy Awards, winning its first Emmy Award for the documentary film Collisions, directed by Lynette Wallworth. Jaunt Studios has produced and distributed more than 300 pieces of immersive content and has aggregated the largest library of immersive content that is licensed to distributors throughout the globe.

Aaron Hart will oversee all projects for Jaunt and led the deal negotiations.  Deal was negotiated by Vanessa Roman of Akin Gump on behalf of XYZ.  Projects between Jaunt Studios and XYZ Films have not yet been announced.
