Jaunt Launches Reimagined Jaunt VR App Exclusively on Windows Mixed Reality

Jaunt Studios to premiere their first interactive cinematic 6DOF film, FREE THE NIGHT

Jaunt Inc., the industry leader in immersive cinematic experiences, announced a new version of the Jaunt VR app will officially debut on Windows Mixed Reality on launch at retail in mid-October. This is a significant evolution in the Jaunt App and will feature a more intuitive user interface, voice navigation using Microsoft Cortana, and content adaptive streaming which insures the optimal image quality relative to available bandwidth. The launch of the Jaunt App on Windows Mixed Reality further expands on Jaunt’s distribution capabilities, which is one of the largest global VR distribution networks.

“Partnering with Microsoft for the launch of Windows Mixed Reality allows Jaunt to bring one of the largest libraries of high quality immersive cinematic content to one of the most prolific technology brands in the world. Microsoft’s significant investment in mixed reality speaks volumes about the future of this medium,” said Jaunt CEO & President, George Kliavkoff. “Working with Microsoft to bring the latest version of our app to audiences worldwide has allowed us to continue pushing the limits of what interactive content has to offer.”

In partnership with Microsoft, Jaunt Studios also produced their first six degrees of freedom (6DOF) original film FREE THE NIGHT. Directed by Nicole McDonald, award-winning interactive filmmaker of MARRY THE MOON and the upcoming HUE, the film takes you on a journey inspired by the stars of the night sky. Throughout the film, viewers pick lights out of a city skyline and place them back into the night sky right where they belong. The film is the first fully interactive 6DOF original from Jaunt Studios, and their first collaboration with McDonald.

“As our first 6DOF film, FREE THE NIGHT expands Jaunt Studios’ offerings to give our users the next generation of interactive films,” continued Kliavkoff. “It is beautifully imagined and executed by Nicole and the Studio team. It’s an exceptional experience.”

The reimagined Jaunt VR app on Windows Mixed Reality will continue to regularly debut new immersive content that fans have come to expect from Jaunt. Whether it is visiting the Amazon rainforest in UNDER THE CANOPY, having an engaging exchange with Paul McCartney, disappearing into Doug Liman’s series INVISIBLE, or experiencing the dramatic journey of Nyarri from Australia’s Martu tribe in the Emmy-nominated documentary COLLISIONS, there is something for everyone in the Jaunt VR app.
