Rob Gronkowski’s annual Citi ProCamp gives young athletes a chance to hang out with their favorite NFL tight end and learn the fundamentals of the game they love. Jaunt and Citi were on hand to showcase the action at this year’s clinic with “Play With the Pros: Summer Camp with Rob Gronkowski” an immersive virtual reality experience you won’t want to miss.
“We had an absolute blast shooting with Gronk in VR, and the fact that we got to surprise Max as part of the piece made the whole endeavor even more special,” said Michael Berger, Executive Sports Producer at Jaunt. “To see more than 800 kids having the time of their life, mostly because Gronk made it a point to interact with every single one of them, was incredibly rewarding and I’m glad we were able to convey some of that in our VR experience. And oh yeah, being able to film a Gronk Spike in VR wasn’t too bad either.”
Here are 5 reasons to check out Gronk’s football clinic in virtual reality:
1. Gronk-Sized Surprise
For ProCampers, spending time with professional athletes is the highlight of the ProCamps experience. This experience was taken to the next level for ProCamper Max Murray who had the privilege of getting picked up by Gronkowski in the famous “Gronk Bus.” The young Patriots fan rode in style with his favorite athlete and had a first day of camp worth remembering.
2. Gronk Spike in 360
Gronkowski is famous for his iconic touchdown celebration, and a Gronk ProCamp wouldn’t be complete without a “Gronk Spike.” At minute 4:04 of the virtual reality experience, Gronkowski kicks off day one of ProCamps with his signature move for campers and virtual fans alike to enjoy.
3. Touchdown Celebrations All-Around
Touchdown celebrations were one of the many key moves practiced at ProCamps and Gronk wasn’t the only one celebrating. ProCampers had the chance to show off their best touchdown dance moves along with Gronk and his family in virtual reality.
4. Gronk Goes Virtual
The ProCamps virtual reality project was Gronkowski’s first extensive experience with VR. Not only did Gronkowski serve as the narrator for the piece, he also spent time enjoying VR content, hanging out around VR cameras, and using the medium to tell his story for fans.
5. Experiencing the Citi ProCamps Initiative
This latest ProCamp marked Gronkowski’s fifth youth football clinic. With this edition of his ProCamp, Gronkowski and his family spent time teaching and hanging out with over 800 young athletes and their families. Citi® Private Pass® makes these events possible so young athletes can develop and meet their role models, an impact all of us can now admire in virtual reality.
