It’s game time for 5G & Jaunt’s XR Cast

By Mitzi Reaugh, CEO

It was an exciting day for the Jaunt team with our first public unveiling of XR Cast — our next generation AR technology.

During the tailgate, fans performed their best end-zone dances on one of two XR Cast capture stages. While the tailgaters were dancing, their friends and family watched a real-time, AR stream of the dance over 5G on a miniature football field. Dancers then viewed their own 3D holograms and created AR dance parties with other participants — including some Falcons’ cheerleaders and Fredde Falcon to truly put their dancing skills to the test.

Once a touchdown dance was captured, fans received a link to view their dance in AR on their personal mobile device and share the 3D content on Facebook. We’re still tracking the replay data and social shares, but early results show 60% post-event engagement as fans shared the experience with family and friends. On the ground, fans were delighted by the experience.

A first of its kind to the market, Jaunt’s XR Cast volumetric capture technology allows people to record their own 3D augmented reality holograms, view and stream them in real-time, and share a 3D video of themselves that you can manipulate to see from any angle on social media. With XR Cast, we film subjects from a 360-degree perspective, then output a hologram that matches the subject’s appearance, movements and voice in the form of a shareable, to-scale augmented reality asset. XR Cast utilizes a simple capture stage with a streamlined setup that optimized for portability and flexibility.

This is just one of many use cases for our XR Cast, illustrating how our volumetric technology creates compelling content experiences that engage and excite. From live performances in AR to 3D selfies, we believe the sky’s the limit for media companies, brands and technology companies looking to stand out and reach consumers in new ways.
